Just Some Thoughts About Better Blogging

July 9, 2017 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

better-blogger

The more I try, the more I fail. And the more I fail, the closer I know I am getting to success… BECAUSE… I’m not trying the same things under the same circumstances… or am I? You see what I’m saying?

And by all means think too hard about it. Think so hard about it you give yourself your first migraine if you’ve never had one. Not really. Take it easy on yourself. But I’m sure you catch my drift. At least you pushed so hard against that so-called limitation that you now know that it probably really is one!

Is Adblock evil, or is its use justified?

January 30, 2014 by Troy Boylan 2 Comments

Ok, ok… I know, I know… ads suck! But just hear me out.

I’m just going to jump into the deep end concerning this whole debate… for lack of a better word… debate. It seems to me that Adblock is for people who like to read those sites that are created specifically to adorn a center stage advertisement with fluff. We’ve all seen them, we all know what they are. Or do we?

Automate Your Accounts

June 10, 2013 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

Account automation is not about willpower. It is a means of replacing willpower. Willpower is the unsuccessful strategy that is the reason why so many are in debt these days. We are learning as a culture that, for most of us, willpower does not work. But, automating your accounts does work. It removes money you should be saving from your checking account just after it is direct deposited, so you cannot easily spend it. Letting the power of automation work for you means saving time as well as money.

Saving Money Is Making Money… Right? Kinda!

May 18, 2013 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

In this credit based society, being in debt is usually thought of as a normal fact of life for many Americans, and it is… but it doesn’t need to be. Being in debt and/or having a poor credit rating WILL hurt you financially in the long-run more than you might realize.

The inverse is of course that saving regularly and having an excellent credit rating will give you more financial freedom & self-sufficiency.

Yesterday an industry wide DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack targeting WordPress blogs was launched. The attack is still in effect, and has effected many web hosting providers including GreenGeeks.

The Cornerstones of Passive Online Income

April 30, 2012 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

omni-sept-86

I recall years ago, an article in the September 1986 issue of Omni Magazine (a great science and science fiction magazine I’m sad is no longer with us)… an article about the ideal future house… a “living breathing” house that was “aware” of its inhabitants and their individual preferences. It had all the automatic computer environmental controls, etc. The modern household is not too far off from the one I was amazed by in the Omni article.

How NOT To Succeed At Making Money Online

April 27, 2012 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

out-of-ass

People know that business success depends on ‘best practices’, the buzzword among businesses for a model code of conduct that consistently produces desired results. Another fact is that the way the human brain works, people pay more immediate attention to negative experiences. This is called ‘negativity bias’ and it is because our perceptions are more intimately tied into our “fight or flight” instinct than to the attention we pay to positive stimulus. So, I’ve decided to include a ‘Worst Practices’ category for this blog as a way of including the occasional post that serves to capitalize on the importance we place on negative comments and headlines. This is my first post to go in the ‘Worst Practices’ category.

The Basics of a Making a Niche Site

April 17, 2012 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

google-keyword-tool

What is a niche site? I guess the best way for me to put it is… a niche site is a site that seeks to avoid competition for search engine rankings. The idea is to find a keyword that enough people are typing into whatever search engine they are using (we’ll use Google since that is the most popular), but at the same time there are not too many sites using that keyword. The point of the niche site is to be on the first page of the Google search page when your chosen keyword is searched for.

Why The Background Is Not White

White light is full spectrum, meaning it contains equal amounts of the highest intensity red, green, and blue light. Blue light is short wave frequency, and is thus potentially damaging to eyes and overall well-being. Thus, EV’s content background color is an eye friendly cream color low in red and green light, but even lower in blue light. Be additionally protected from the blue light emitted from your e-device by wearing computer glasses.
