The Basest Baddest Layer of EDC… Footwear!

Your EDC (Every Day Carry) is what you carry on your body everywhere you go. Two things that immediately come to mind for most individuals are wallet (or purse) and keys, but think of your EDC as also including your clothes. And when people think of clothes they first think pants, as covering the private parts is required by law and necessary to most people’s normal mentality.

So… concerning the Swiss Army Knife that has been in my pocket since I was 12 (circa 1980)… my Mom bought me that knife… the MacGuyver knife (I never did get the official MacGyver Paperclip though, lol)… at the local Army Navy Surplus store.

A while back, I reviewed a high quality hollow handled survival knife… Kizlyar Supreme’s Survivalist X. In the video accompanying the article, I went into some depth concerning the MOLLE panel on the front of its sheath, which I added a 50? hank of paracord to. I have since replaced the paracord with Kizlyar Supreme’s MOLLE Survival Kit SMP1… it attaches to a belt or anything MOLLE-compatible.

After having reviewed Kizlyar Supreme’s Survivalist X in the D2 tool steel, I chose to review another of Kizlyar Supreme’s knives… the Urban! The Urban is small full tang knife with a 3.5” blade. It is available in D2 or AUS8, both good choices for different applications/environments.

The Importance of a Survival Group

August 30, 2015 by Troy Boylan Leave a Comment

teamwork

What Is A Survival Group? A survival group is a collection of aware and informed individuals who have come together in the anticipation that the day (or night) will come when going it alone is not the wisest option in terms of survivability. Why Form Or Join A Survival Group? We are social animals and there is safety in numbers. This is why we humans tend to look to others concerning those things that concern us… our survival depends on each other. We feel the need to trust in each others’ attitudes and beliefs because we all know there will be a time when loyalty will be tested. As well, we all feel the need to be able to have confidence in our own and other group members’ attitudes and skills.

Review of (Video) A Hollow Handled Survival Knife… Kizlyar Supreme’s Survivalist X

A while back, I wrote an article based on a video I made taking a nostalgic look at “The Survivor”… the cheapo hollow handled survival knife inspired by the film First Blood. After making fun of that piece of crap knife that so many of us naive 10 year old “survivalists” got from Santa Claus in the early 1980’s… I went on to recommend a few that my research revealed as viable survival knives.

Hollow handled survival knives appeal to minimalist survivalists who like a complete survival kit in one item… and to those who like essential survival item redundancy.

Choosing A Survival Knife… Going the Rambo Route!

July 27, 2014 by Troy Boylan 1 Comment

Hollywood and its depictions of what is practical in the real world are more often than not… waaaay off. But when when it comes to what size knife Rambo thinks makes a good survival knife… Hollywood got it right… bigger is better! Sorry MacGyver, but that Swiss Army knife is not enough for the real world, you’ll need a big knife as well.

Why The Background Is Not White

White light is full spectrum, meaning it contains equal amounts of the highest intensity red, green, and blue light. Blue light is short wave frequency, and is thus potentially damaging to eyes and overall well-being. Thus, EV’s content background color is an eye friendly cream color low in red and green light, but even lower in blue light. Be additionally protected from the blue light emitted from your e-device by wearing computer glasses.
